swine flu

Walking around with mask is definately not an enjoyable thing to do. But we have no choice. We got to do something before it is too late. It'll be too late once Swine flu occurs in Singapore. Imagine, the whole world wearing a masks, hospitals are full with people, clinics are full with people, schools are closed, affecting the lives of all the children, people are afraid of each other, stucked at home, just hoping that the scientists will find the cure for the swine flu victims, people are then living in misery. I don't want all these things to happen. Remember SARS which happened a few years back? People were afraid of each other, some even started to be self-centred when the nurses and doctors are fighting against the virus of the victims? I don't want history to repeat itself. Since cases of swine flu have been increasing lately, we have to be more resilient and be more prepared in the upcoming years.

Cases of swine flu, which has killed people in Mexico, have been confirmed around the world. With experts scrambling to develop a vaccine, there is concern at the potential for a pandemic affecting millions of people.
Swine flu is a respiratory disease, caused by influenza type A which infects pigs.
There are many types, and the infection is constantly changing.
Until now it has not normally infected humans, but the latest form clearly does, and can be spread from person to person - probably through coughing and sneezing.
Other than the symptoms of fever, cough or sorethroat, as reported in many cases, there are also mild respiratory illnesses like nasal congestion. Other symptoms reported are symptoms such as vomitting, diarrhea, headache, chills, fatique or many more. Conjunctivities, also known as "pink eye", the inflammation of the membranes covering the whites of the eye and the membranes of the inner part of the eyelid, is rare but it has also been reported as one of the symptoms. Severe disease like respiratory failure and fatal outcomes has also been reported.
Now, it's at phase five, GENEVA - THE World Health Organisation raised its pandemic alert for swine flu to the second highest level Wednesday, meaning that it believes a global outbreak of the disease is imminent. This disease is very dangerous. Symptoms of swine flu in humans appear to be similar to those produced by standard, seasonal flu.
These include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, chills and fatigue.
It is worth remembering that seasonal flu often poses a serious threat to public health: each year it kills 250,000 - 500,000 around the world.
So far, most cases of swine flu around the world appear to be mild, albeit with diarrhoea more common than it is with seasonal flu.
But lives have been lost in Mexico, and a single death - of a Mexican child - has been confirmed in the US.
WHO has confirmed 114 cases of swine flu in seven countries - Mexico, the United States, Canada, Britain, Israel, New Zealand and Spain. Over half of the confirmed cases - 64 - are in the United States. Only Mexico and the US have reported deaths so far.
After reading all these informations from the websites, I felt very worried as I am afraid that this might happen in Singapore, resulting to a huge decrease in the world's population. One by one, day by day, countries by countries are facing cases of swine flu. I'm sure that the Singapore's government will be responsible and will do their best to fight against the disease if swine flu occurs in Singapore. I really hope that this won't happen in Singapore. I'm worried about everyone, innocents people losing their lives. What if a baby gets the disease? I feel that is very unfair. But no matter what, we have to work very hard, work as one, and fight against the disease because... Swine flu ruins everyones' life!

chicken a la carte!

I felt very disappointed with myself for not treasuring what I have now, and disheartened with the condition of the people in the village till I almost shed my tear but I didn't. Especially the children. when i saw the children in the video running towards the "guy", my heart ache. I imagined what will happened if my family were in that condition. Seeing the children in that state, eating the leftovers that are being picked up by the "guy", from the bin?! Oh well, imagine what will you feel if your family or even friends pick foods from the bin, and eat it? That's awful. but, why are these people in the video doing so? Oh god, I think that their government is being unfair to these people, for not doing anything to improve the lives of these people, leaving them in a misery, struggling and fighting for the lives, starving themselves, eating leftovers, maybe, drinking rainwater due to limited water they are getting? and so on.

After watching this video, I realised how fortunate I am. Really, I got whatever I have, nice clothes for outings and certain occasions, a laptop for studying and also for playing games, clean water for drinking and also bathing, delicious food for me to enjoy and also to satisfy my temptation, enough money to buy the things that I need and a proper shelter to prevent myself from rain and sun. Watching how happily they were when they get to eat a piece of leftover chicken, has taught me that from now on I shall not be fussy with what food I have for lunch/dinner. As long as it is edible, I must be happy and lucky to have good food to eat.

Some are rich some are poor, maybe they are from generations. Maybe it is because they didn't study well in the past, and so in the future, those uneducated people do not know how they make money to survive and so, they tend to beg for money, and stuffs like that. On the other hand, most probably people who are living in countries like Japan, Malaysia or Singapore, which are more likely to be a more developed countries than the third world countries like Africa. Thus, therefore we are richer people than them. developed countries have more educated people due to good education that the country is providing.

I think what is happening in the video is not fair. Everyone should be treated fairly. People from the video should not be treated this way. We should help them by donating money. Raising funds for them is also a good way to help. We could also donate our things, like books and clothing or anything. it's the thoughts that counts. Since we are pretty much likely to be educated, we could also volunteer ourselves to teach them whatever knowledge that we have.

Helping people is good! (^:
